A visit to Cubreme, sustainable clothing store in Palermo

It's been a while since I was looking for an excuse to talk about Cubreme, without a doubt the most interesting sustainable clothing brand in Buenos Aires, and the recent launch of its first showroom open to the public at Godoy Cruz 1720 is a perfect opportunity to do so.

For those unfamiliar with the project, it is a line of coats, sweaters, dresses, comfortable clothes for the house and accessories made from natural fibers native to South America (llama, merino sheep). They are obtained from producers responsible for the care of their animals, and combined with other materials such as bamboo and agro-ecological cotton from Otro Mercado al Sur.

The subtle palette of colors in the clothes is the result of the natural tone of the animals and yarns, since no any additional dying is used.

Additionally, the brand's production is carried out under fair trade terms and has impeccable traceability which allows us to know the entire process behind each garment.

Even more interesting is the fact that one doesn't have to be a millionaire to buy something and that --as Cubreme doesn't work with fashion seasons but with weather ones (cold and warm)- the clothes do not respond to fleeting trends or look ridiculous in six months, so the investment lasts in time.

For all of this, and especially because the creator of Cubreme, Maria Alejandra Gotelli, is passionate about the topic and is not involved in environmental issues to follow a trend, I highly recommend visiting the store and support this type of initiatives.
