Paula Alvarado is a journalist from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She began focusing on sustainable design, urban trends and environmental issues in 2005, and through that work became a well-known figure in the local green scene.

She currently covers the Latin American sustainable design and environmental issues beat for Discovery's TreeHugger.com and edits the versions in Spanish and Portuguese of TreeHugger for Discovery Latin America. Additionally, she co-hosts the monthly meetings for green entrepreneurs and professionals Green Drinks Buenos Aires.

Since 2007 she comments which designers, artists and places of Buenos Aires inspire her at BA Inspiration, which was named one of the Top 10 Latin American Design Blogs by WGSN.

Previously, she worked as a consumer trend-spotter and cultural interpreter for the U.S. company Iconoculture and was a writer in magazines specialized in advertising and events. She has written green columns for publications such as Seventeen and Mapas de Buenos Aires, and asked to write proposals for audiovisual projects related to environmental and urban issues.

She has been profiled-in and consulted-for articles in publications such as Elle Argentina, ABC Design (Brazil) and LAN's In (Chile), among others; and invited to give talks and lectures on sustainable design at institutions like Universidad Catolica Argentina and Universidad de Moron.

Paula is a vegetarian, she moves by bicycle, has a special fondness for all kinds of plants and dogs, and believes one of the coolest things someone said to her was “Oh, so you're one of those travelers”.
