I've been thinking about different concepts and ideas for some time, which this video from the Do Lectures focused a bit: a need that's growing in young people is that of connecting and sharing experiences with people who have similar interests or thoughts, in a more profound way.
Internet and social networks allow this in a virtual way, and events like TED, the above mentioned Do Lectures and other bigger and smaller networking events are allowing this face to face with an orientation towards professional life. But this video of the creator of Phoot Camp and Eat Retreat speaks of a kind of meeting that mixes fun, knowledge sharing and connecting in person in a space alternative to the traditional. Laura Brunow Miner talks about “Catalyzing people”, “creating stable communities of people with shared passions”, photography camps where each participant shares something he or she can do and retreats to share knowledge about food.
